Does NBA 2K23 Have Crossplay?

NBA 2K23 Crossplay

NBA 2K23 does have cross-progression features, it however does not offer crossplay options for multiplayer.

It took some time, but crossplay functionality between platforms has started to become to new normal.

Popular titles such as Fortnite, and Call of Duty: Warzone support cross-platform play between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Does NBA 2K23 support crossplay multiplayer across platforms?

As of writing, NBA 2K23 does not come with much in the form of cross-platform play options.

It does not seem as though this will change either, based on NBA 2K23’s official FAQ page.

Is cross-progression available in the latest NBA 2K entry?

NBA 2K23 does support cross-progression for MyTeam and a Shared VC Wallet for the “same console family.” A user playing on PS4 can transfer MyTeam progress to their PS5 console, for instance.

Cross-progression for NBA MyTeam will allow players to share MyTeam Points, Tokens, cards, and progress across both iterations of NBA 2K23 on generations of hardware within a single console family.

A similar rule applies to the Shared VC Wallet, meaning any earned and purchased Virtual Currency will work across console families.

NBA 2K23 is now available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

How to Unlock Rebirth in NBA 2K23

NBA 2K23 Rebirth

Want to know how to unlock Rebirth in NBA 2K23? We’ve got you.

Making its series debut in NBA 2K19, the Rebirth system is back in both the Current and Next Gen versions of NBA 2K23 MyCAREER. For those looking to get a head start on creating the build they want, here’s the breakdown of how to unlock Rebirth save files.

How to Unlock Rebirth in NBA 2K23: Current and Next Gen

To unlock the ability to use Rebirth save files, players on both Current and Next must complete the “Rebirth” quest.

For those on Current Gen, the process is simple. Once you hop into the G.O.A.T. Boat for the first time, players will receive a message from Ronnie2K about hitting 90 overall.

At that point, players will given the Rebirth quest, in which all they need to is hit 90 OVR to unlock the feature.

How to Unlock All Ronnie2K Locations

For those on Next Gen, the process is more difficult, but does come with some additional rewards along the way.

After finishing the NBA Summer League game, players will receive a bunch of intro quests, including the Rebirth quest.

The Rebirth quest on Next Gen still requires players to speak with Ronnie2K, but on four separate occasions.

To get the quest started, refer to the map at the top of the article.

Each time players go through a cutscene with the community manager, they’ll receive the next step in the quest, which is to simply meet the OVR milestones.

  1. Reach 65 OVR: Unlocks Ronnie2K & Sophie T-Shirt
  2. Reach 75 OVR: Unlocks Custom Spawn Locations
  3. Reach 88 OVR: Unlocks the ability to go Shirtless
  4. Reach 90 OVR: Unlocks Rebirth
What is Rebirth in NBA 2K23?

Rebirth saves, which are unlimited, will start players off with all previously earned gameplay-related quest prizes carried over, up to 25 Badge points already earned and the opportunity to upgrade to a 90 OVR.

Although Rebirth builds technically do have a head start in Badges and Attribute upgrade progress, players will still have to spend upwards of 200,000 VC to actually get their builds maxed out.

NBA 2K23 Is One Of The Largest Downloads Ever For Xbox Series X

NBA 2K23 Download Size

Managing the storage space on next-gen SSD drives has become a side quest for most of us. NBA 2K23 will be adding to our save space woes with an absolute beast of a download on the Xbox Series X.

As spotted by folks over on Reddit, NBA 2K23 on Xbox Series X comes in at just north of 150GB. That’s uhh, massive.

We’ve seen some big game sizes this generation so far, but it’s not often a game comes in over the 150gb mark.

We haven’t spotted the game’s Xbox Series S install size just yet, but if it’s anywhere near the Series X size, you can expect it to take up almost half of the system’s internal drive space!

NBA 2K23 MyCareer Preview

NBA 2K23 MyCareer Preview

Rejoice!, we are finally rid of grinding out tutorial-level games to start MyCareer.

In NBA 2k23’s MyCareer mode you get drafted directly to the NBA, to a team of your choice, then immediately begin your pro career.

“Everyone in The City, all the pundits, everyone wanted your team to draft this player named Shep. Shep Owens,” executive producer Erick Boenisch commented in a recent interview. “So instantly, you get on stage, Adam Silver’s shakes your hand and the entire audience is booing. They don’t like you right from the jump.”

“They wanted Shep; Shep is the college star, he’s the flashy guy, he’s the athletic guy, he’s the charismatic guy,” Boenisch continued. “And you’ll find that as soon as you go out into The City, the people of The City wanted Shep, too.”

There will be Shep murals on the walls of The City’s buildings; people will be wearing Shep’s clothing labels, too. “So, the major part of the narrative this year is overcoming that adversity of how everyone reacts to you, and winning over the citizens of The City,” Boenisch said.

Boenisch stated that players will have several main and side-quest channels to win over the public.

“There’s a new business section you can focus on; you can do all of them, you can do none of them,” Boenisch said.

“This is hands down our biggest MyCareer story that we’ve ever done in the past; it’s insanely large,” Boenisch vowed. “We had a different actor in mo-cap every day for, like, six months. It’s crazy.” Celebrity cameos this year include J. Cole, along with his Dreamville Records label. Additionally, Hall-of-Famer Kevin Garnett and seven-time all-star Tracy McGrady show up to mentor the player, representing different professional paths the player can choose. Kendrick Perkins’ player-hating ball returns, with ESPN’s J.J. Redick and cover star Devin Booker involved as analysts.

Sounds like players will have a lot to look forward to in NBA 2K23 MyCareer.

NBA 2K23 Brings Back the Jordan Challenge

NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge

Get ready to relive the 15 greatest moments in MJ’s incomparable career.

2K Sports recently announced they were bringing back the popular ‘Jordan Challenge’ for this years installment of NBA 2K, and dropped a pretty great trailer as part of that announcement.

The Jordan Challenge was revolutionary in sports video gaming 12 years ago and will return this year, with an amazing level of detail and presentation.

“In the past 12 years, we have an entirely new generation of NBA fans to retell these incredible stories to,” said executive producer Erick Boenisch. “This generation didn’t get the chance, necessarily, to see Michael play live, to see him play on TV, to see him play in person. So everything that they know about this person is from YouTube, from word of mouth, or their parents. This really is a chance for us to retell the story of Michael Jordan to a whole new generation of NBA fans.

The Jordan Challenge for NBA 2K23 will begin with one of its five new moments, the 1982 NCAA National Championship game between Jordan’s North Carolina Tar Heels and the Georgetown Hoyas, starring his future and longtime rival Patrick Ewing. Tar Heel greats James Worthy and Sam Perkins will take the floor in their alma mater’s uniforms. So will Ewing and Eric “Sleepy” Floyd, under the formidable glare of the Hoyas’ coach, John Thompson.

“We’ve tried to get North Carolina for a number of years now,” Boenisch said, referring to the college portion of NBA 2K’s MyCareer mode. “They always had their reasons for not wanting to do it. Pitching them, we said, ‘Here’s our vision for the game this year, Mike’s involved, Mike wants this,’ and they said, ‘OK, great. Sounds good. Let’s do this.’ They were super enthused to work with us to help be a part of telling Michael Jordan’s story.”

Wrapping each of the 15 moments will be interviews with teammates, opponents, broadcasters, and other luminaries.

“We brought Mike Fratello in and he just started rattling off stories,” Boenisch said. “And we had done our research, we prepped the scripts, but we really hadn’t heard this stuff before. This is new. He added a vibe to The Jordan Challenge that I just was not expecting. Just incredible. He really brought the energy to the broadcast, and you will feel that when you play the game.”

“It was a labor of love,” Wang said. “We have a lot of old heads on our team, a lot of our team, a lot of people who got into this industry because of Michael Jordan. So, being able to do it was awesome fun for us, too.”

The Jordan Challenge will be available in all editions of NBA 2K23.

NBA 2K23 On PC Will Be Previous-Gen Version

Players have been clamoring for the next generation upgrades from the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of NBA 2K to be added to PC the past few years.

Despite the consumer push, it looks like NBA 2K23’s PC version wont be getting the upgrade.

According to the FAQs section of the 2K Games website, the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the next NBA 2K game won’t receive the graphical and technical upgrades that the game’s next-gen console versions will have.

“For now, the focus was on making sure NBA 2K23 was optimized for the new consoles, while also making sure the experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms” a 2K rep stated.

This will obviously be a disappointment to PC fans of the NBA 2K series, as the developers continue to largely ignore that version of the game.

NBA 2K23: 10 Things To Know

NBA 2K23 10 Things to Know

We don’t have an official release date yet, but here’s what we know right now about NBA 2K23 based on history, rumors and confirmed information.

We don’t have a lot in the way of confirmed NBA 2K23 news but we expect to learn a lot more in the coming weeks.

Here’s what we have as far as what you can expect from NBA 2K23’s features, release date, editions, demo, and more.

NBA 2K23 Launch Date

2K says pre-orders will kick off on July 7th and we’ll see a flurry of details confirmed right before or on that date.

The initial NBA 2K announcements are typically light on details so don’t expect 2K Games and Visual Concepts to show much of the game in the early going.

NBA 2K23 Release Date

We don’t have an official NBA 2K23 release date yet. You can expect the NBA 2K23 release date to land sometime in September ahead of Black Friday and the 2022 holiday season.

One leak suggests the NBA 2K23 release date will be September 16th.

We didn’t see any early access last year so there may not be a way to play NBA 2K23 ahead of its official release date. In the past, 2K Games has offered an early access date to those who bought deluxe versions of the game.

NBA 2K23 Consoles

NBA 2K23 will release for current-generation platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

You can also expect a release on Xbox One and PS4.

NBA 2K23 Cover

NBA 2K23 will feature four athletes on the cover.

Devin Booker will be one of the NBA 2K23 cover athletes. He’ll  appear on the standard version of the game.

2K has also confirmed that Michael Jordan will appear on the covers of two deluxe editions, with Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi featuring on the game’s WNBA edition.

NBA 2K23 Editions

2K’s confirmed two NBA 2K23 editions: a Michael Jordan edition and a Championship edition. The rest of the editions should get confirmed soon.

The bundles typically come with Virtual Currency (VC), MyTEAM bonuses, and cosmetic items for the game’s popular MyPLAYER mode.

The standard edition will retail for $59.99 for older platforms and $69.99 for newer consoles.

NBA 2K23 Pre-Orders

Again, NBA 2K23 pre-orders will start on July 7th.

2K will provide pre-order bonuses to entice buyers. Here were the pre-order bonuses if you pre-ordered a copy of the standard edition of NBA 2K22 for console or Windows PC:

  • 5,000 Virtual Currency
  • 5,000 MyTEAM Points
  • 10 MyTEAM Promo Packs (delivered one a week)
  • A Boost for each MyCAREER Skill type
  • A Boost for each Gatorade Boost type
  • Luka Dončić MyPLAYER Jersey
  • 95 Rated Luka Dončić MyTEAM Free Agent Card

While we should not assume the pre-order bonuses will be the exact same, we can expect them to be close.

NBA 2K23 Features

Right now, we know almost nothing about the game. We can expect numerous improvements and changes with a particular focus on current-generation platforms (Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5), but as of now little to nothing has been confirmed.

NBA 2K23 Demo

After many years of providing a demo, the company declined to offer an NBA 2K22 demo. It’s unclear if NBA 2K23 will suffer the same fate.

NBA 2K23 Microtransactions

We expect to see Virtual Currency (VC) return in NBA 2K23.

NBA 2K23 PC Requirements

If you plan to play NBA 2K23 on a Windows PC, you’ll need to take note of the game’s minimum and recommended spec requirements.

Unfortunately, those details won’t arrive until we get much closer to the official release so unless you are sure your PC can handle running the game we suggest you hold off on a pre-order.
